I am a chalk artist, street painter, a Madonnari!
I produced my first street painting was at the Rotary Club of Orlando 's Street Painting Chalk Art Festival, Downtown Orlando. Jeannie Linders brought this event to Orlando and produced it for the first five years. Artists paint a large area on the sidewalk with pastels. I make a grid of my picture that I want to paint. Then I grid the sidewalk of the same, in larger proportions. I then draw the picture on the sidewalk and paint with my pastels. I use hairspray to help the chalk adhere to the cement. My cement canvas areas have varied from 4'x4' to 12'x12'. I have painted over 30 street painintgs at various festivals.
This is temporary artwork. I love the challenge to create a large painting in a short period of time and I enjoy the smiles of the audience. I have street painted in various locations in Florida.
I am a member of the
Florida Chalk Art Association ((FCAA)
At the FCAA meeting at Downtown Disney 2008, I was awarded the medallion for Madonnari designation of Maestro (highest honor).
